Singapore: More than a stopover
Where are you stopping over? Singapore? Oh Changi airport is great, you’ll have no trouble passing the time there! I’m guessing that sounds familiar. Singapore isn’t worth more than the obligatory four or so hours, right? More often than not, it is merely the appetiser; setting the stage before the main event.
When the plane finally touches down in this island nation, however, it becomes clear that it is so much more than a place where chewing gum is taboo.
If you’re more of a thrill-seeking, adrenaline junkie, however, Singapore’s Sentosa Island is where you need to be.
Previously only accessible by its famous cable car network, Sentosa’s pristine beaches and adventure activities are now easily accessible from the CBD via the Sentosa Express, Cable Car Sky Network, shuttle bus, road link or Sentosa Boardwalk.
Helen Keller once said that “life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.” As a child, I regularly opted out of the daring adventures. The merry-go-round was quite enough excitement for me. Alas, life is short and sometimes you just have to jump.
iFly Singapore | 43 Siloso Beach Walk #01-01 Singapore 099010
If you’re going to in fact “jump”, what better place than the world’s largest themed wind tunnel for indoor skydiving?! If skydiving is on your bucket list, iFly is the perfect way to dip your toe into the world of free-falling.
The experience kicks off in a dimly lit room with a large screen. You’d be forgiven for thinking you had accidentally stumbled upon a nostalgic screening of Point Break. Having familiarised yourself with the hand signals that your guide will use to direct you during your flight, it’s time to kit up.
Fulfilling everyone’s inner desire to spend life in a onesie, the suit is capped off with a pair of safety goggles and earplugs. Ladies and gents, now it’s time to fly!
Groups are limited to around 8 people so there is very little wait time for your two flights. I, however, am not opposed to kicking back and watching people zip around like something out of Willy Wonka. Maybe that’s just me, though.
Once you drop into the instructor’s arms (no, this is not a romcom-esque meet-cute), you will fly around in the wind tunnel for the time it would take to fall through the air from 12,000 ft to 3,000 ft. I guarantee the hand signals you so dutifully learned earlier will fly straight of your head; but fear not, the instructors are a friendly bunch who are only too happy to correct your technique.
Don’t forget to smile for the camera! You definitely want a reminder of that time you looked like a happy puppy hanging its head out of a speeding car window.

Mega Adventure Park | 10A Siloso Beach Walk Singapore 099008
The Mega Adventure Park is possibly Sentosa Island’s greatest draw. Home to the famous MegaZip, and complemented by the adrenaline-pumping MegaWall, MegaClimb, MegaJump and MegaBounce, there truly is something for everyone.
Journey up a mountain (a hill?) and take in the stunning views as you approach the peak of the MegaZip. At 75m high, there is no greater feeling than zipping along a 450m long wire above a jungle canopy at 60 kilometres per hour! The views aren’t too shabby either; seamlessly shifting from luscious greens to white sandy beaches and beautiful blue hues.
Fancy yourself a bit of a spiderman/spiderwoman? Sentosa is home to one of Singapore’s highest climbing walls. The MegaWall will have you embracing your inner ninja as you navigate your way through three different courses to the 15m high summit. Then, sit back and enjoy the view as you abseil back to earth.
The views are simply stunning as you barrel down the MegaZip.
36 obstacles nestled amidst the jungle hilltops of Sentosa; offering breathtaking views and adrenaline-pumping adventure. The MegaClimb, Singapore’s premier high ropes adventure course, presents a formidable course that will keep you coming back again and again.
If you fancy jumping out of the sky but don’t really want to do the whole aeroplane thing, MegaJump has your name on it. Replicate a free fall parachute jump as you step off a platform and fly/fall past a jungle full of swaying palms and ocean as far as the eye can see. Go on, take a leap of faith!
Since it would be wrong to let the adults have all the fun, this bungee assisted trampoline will keep the kids occupied while you jump off platforms and climb through trees. That being said, if you feel so inclined to test out your acrobatics skills and show the kids how it’s done, go forth and bounce.
